Scope of Position:

The Business Development Manager independently leads certain areas of work on behalf of the Atlantic Shores Commercial Director – and by doing so supports in guiding the JV through the wider Business development landscape. This includes: Efforts to localize the Offshore Wind supply chain into East Coast USA, Commercial analyses for current projects or future bids, Competitive Intelligence on localization of supply chains, developing potential strategic partnerships in such areas as interconnection, ports, labor and commercial and industrial offtake, and various Strategic topics in the JV’s commercial domain. After winning a successful bid (with multiple bids coming up in 2020) the Business Development Manager will be responsible to work with the Technical and Procurement teams to deliver the supply chain localization investments and formalize a subset of the potential strategic partnerships in order for the Atlantic Shores business case to take Financial close / FID on any won projects. This is especially important as part of the 2020 bids could involve firm local content commitments to States.

Responsibilities:

40% - Develop key strategic partnerships

  • Further mature the long list of potential strategic partnerships that will add value to the Atlantic Shores portfolio
  • Develop the required relationships to bring information and data into the Joint Venture to aid in future partnership decision-making
  • Build trust and maintain transparency, aligning expectations between the parties
  • As Atlantic Shores’ portfolio of projects matures, maintain communication and alignment with the Management Team to ensure the “long list” becomes a “short list” and the selected strategic partnerships are ready for execution
  • Work with the various Atlantic Shores internal teams to identify opportunities and incorporate strategic partnership thinking and planning in Commercial, Development & Technical workstreams

40% - Manage Joint Venture supply chain development / localization

  • Supply Chain Development
  • Be the subject matter expert on Localization strategies into East Coast States for the Atlantic Shores team
  • Support the Atlantic Shores Commercial Director in implementing commercial strategies to localize the Offshore Wind supply chain into East Coast USA according to company strategies
  • Develop supply chain options with potential partners that give localization options for Atlantic Shores to evaluate and execute.
  • Build a strong network with global and US-based offshore wind contractors to enable further localisation of supply chain into East Coast US
  • Lead specific evaluations and/or full Contracting strategies focussing on local content with specific suppliers
  • Maintain a database on Supply chain leads for potential localization
  • Track the competitive landscape on how other developers are maturing local content
  • Work with the various Atlantic Shores internal teams to incorporate local content thinking in Commercial, Development & Technical workstreams

10% - Create new business opportunities for Atlantic Shores

  • Engage in an organized and prioritized way with the leading local and national businesses in offshore wind and tangential organizations and bring those forward for consideration within the Commercial team. Focus on industries to include at least utilities, real estate, supply chain, education and potential commercial and industrial power purchasers.

10% - Other duties as assigned

  • Ensures commercial record keeping and documentation management are implemented in an effective and efficient manner pursuant to JV policy and other requirements.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by the Commercial Director
Qualifications:

Qualifications:

  • At least a Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Science, or Business is required
  • Master’s degree in business administration preferred
  • 10 years of relevant work experience within wind and/or offshore industry leading high-profile projects, negotiations, and local content development ($250+ million value)
  • Experience with independently negotiating and closing contracts for projects in Select, Define and Execute phases
  • Deep experience with budgets, scheduling and RFP processes
  • Experience with hands-on supply chain development and building supplier investment cases is a must
  • Any experience with offshore wind a significant competitive advantage

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:

  • Highly motivated self-starter and team player
  • Ability to work successfully with multiple people from all types of fields of expertise in a high-paced JV environment
  • Ability in finance, economics and deal structuring
  • Able to independently structure collaboration structures with potential partners and supply chain parties
  • Outstanding interpersonal oral and written communication, presentation skills required
  • Good organizational and communication skills

Pay Range: $112,500 to $187,500 annually

Physical Requirements:

Ability to travel every month to an Atlantic Shores or parent office for 3-5 days at a time.[1]

Working Conditions:

Significant time to be spend in Atlantic Shores office in Brooklyn, New York – with regular visits to the Atlantic Shores offices in Massachusetts and New Jersey. Significant time will be spent outside of the office visiting potential partners, contractors and partners. Some visits to parent organizations’ sites will be required. The Supply Chain Lead & Business Developer will also be attending various (wind) conferences and meetings. During project construction, presence on site may be required.
