ESP Associates, Inc. is seeking a creative and established Landscape Architect Construction Document Team Lead to join our exciting Lake Norman studio. This position will have responsibilities which include overall staffing, supervision and management of projects including residential, commercial, parks and rec, and various mixed-use projects, along with various amenities and other recreational project components.

While contributing to employee development and management of departmental activity, the experienced professional will be responsible for managing clients and undertaking business development activities related to the preparation of proposals/ contracts, production of high quality site plans, hardscape design, and related processes, along with the preparation of illustrative materials, rendered graphics, landscape planting plans and other related technical construction documents within a multi-disciplinary team setting.

Responsibilities:

  • Be an integral part of the “Construction Document (CD) Team,” responsible for Civil / Site / LA design processes on a variety of residential, commercial, and institutional projects of various scales and sizes.
  • Manage design development, preparation and/or administration of contract documents, cost estimates, agency correspondence, client relations, staff supervision and mentoring.
  • Produce high-quality design in AutoCAD/Civil 3D, Adobe Creative Suites (PhotoShop, InDesign, Illustrator, Sketchup), Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point) and other design platforms.
  • Manage client and contractor inquiries from the initial stages of design through permitting and construction.
  • Perform site visits and prepare appropriate field reports as necessary.
  • Work directly with clients to advance master/small area/corridor plans, develop site plans, manage the entitlement processes, and implement improvements.
  • Provide design, project, and task management leadership and mentoring to various production team members.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture from an accredited program.
  • Professional registration as a Landscape Architect.
  • A minimum of 5 or more years of professional Landscape Architecture experience with a diverse and dynamic portfolio.
  • A strong background in Civil / Site / LA Design.
  • 2 or more years’ experience utilizing Civil3D. Some level of experience with creating grading surfaces, alignments, pipe networks, profiles, dynamic parcels, etc.
  • The ability to utilize Civil 3d in the design and drafting of site plans, grading & drainage plans, erosion control plans, landscape plans, details, etc., for client and agency submittals.
  • Experience with designing and detailing entrance monuments, small shade structures, community amenities, outdoor kitchens, outdoor courtyards, parks, streetscapes, etc.
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suites (Photoshop, InDesign, & Illustrator), Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point), Sketch Up, and AutoCAD/FX Works.
  • Ability to liaise with public and private sector clients, maintain client relationships, manage projects and mentor staff.
  • Excellent interpersonal, leadership and communication skills that will allow you to effectively and professionally interact with clients, approval authorities, governmental officials and the public.
  • Candidate must be able to pass a drug screen, background check, and have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the company’s driving (MVR) policy.
