Eaton’s VEH EMB eMobility division is currently seeking a Lead Mechanical Engineer. This Hybrid role will be supported on-site Tues- Thurs from our Tualatin OR ..or Menomonee Falls WI facility.

The expected annual salary range for this role is $88499.97 - $129799.96 a year.

What you’ll do:

  • Design and develop new and innovative products based on leading edge product specifications.
  • Conduct testing of all new products in accordance with Eaton standards and customer requirements
  • Support the review of product requirements based on input from customer OEMs
  • Support the generation (when necessary) of product requirements specifications from the Voice of Customer (VOC) input
  • Prepare for, present, and participate in formal and informal design review activities
  • Complete appropriate technical documentation for new product development and plant introductions
  • Prepare for and present design related product information to customer technical teams
  • Launch new product line extensions following a stage-gate process (i.e., PROLaunch)
  • Investigate and analyze new materials and their appropriate use within our product line
  • Create simulation models to predict structural, fatigue, vibration, thermal, and flow performance of new products in development
  • Conduct detailed analysis of tolerance stacks to ensure efficient assembly and reliable product performance
  • Establish and maintain a collaborative working relationship with key customers and vendors


Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum five (5) years’ experience of new product development in automotive, vehicle, or aerospace industries or minimum (5) years’ experience with new product development of electromechanical systems.
  • Minimum three (3) years of 3D CAD experience, including 2D drawing creation .
  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in US without company sponsorship, now or in the future.
  • No relocation benefit is being offered for this role, candidates must be located within 50 miles of Tualatin, OR .. or .. Menomonee Falls, Wi.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master’s Degree preferred.
  • Experience with packaging electrical or electromechanical systems
  • Experience with High Pressure diecasting, injection molded plastic, and copper stamping component design .
  • Tier 1 or 2 experience in automotive, commercial vehicle, or aerospace markets.
  • Ability to design with and utilize 3D Mechanical CAD program (i.e.: SolidWorks, ProE/CREO) or other mechanical design tools
  • Experience with computer aided modeling and simulation (FEA) techniques (e.g. ANSYS)
  • Practical experience with Product Lifecycle Management (e.g. Enovia).
  • Ability to research and design within transportation industry standards (SAE, ISO, MIL, & ISO TS16949) and best practices.
  • Experienced with current GD&T practices.
  • Experience with DFSS methodologies
  • Proven ability to work with a team to complete projects on time and on budget.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic and constantly changing customer market environment

Skills:

This position will be a lead design engineer for new product development within Vehicle Control product group.
Keep abreast of new technologies and materials.
Good interpersonal skills, particularly with respect to written and oral communication
Ability to operate with minimal supervision.
