Freedom Behavioral Hospital of Plainview,Texas is a 18 bed, acute geriatric psych facility located in Plainview,Texas. We are looking for an experienced Nurse Practitioner. Previous psychiatric experience in an acute setting is a must. Strong preference given to previous geriatric psych experience. Teamwork, team development and team training are all key qualities for this position.

Plainview Behavioral Health Hospital is an inpatient program for Geriatric patients. We are looking for a qualified and experienced Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner who will work under the supervision of the Psychiatrist and Hospital Administrator in providing Behavioral and health care to hospital inpatients including examination, diagnosis and treatment with referral to specialists or hospitals where indicated in close coordination with other hospital personnel.

DUTIES:
Diagnosing, conducting, and prescribing medications for patients having psychiatric-mental health problems;
Responsible for providing emergency psychiatric services, physical and psycho-social examination of their patients;
Developing appropriate treatment plan and providing effective management of patient care with proper evaluation;
Consulting with patients and families having multiple and complex psychiatric disorders; and working in a collaborative and integrative roles with primary healthcare providers;
Educating patients on positive health promoting lifestyle choices and diseases, injury and illness prevention; Prescribe, and/or direct psycho-therapeutic treatments or medication to treat mental, emotional, or behavioral disorders. Collaborate with physicians, advance practice nurses, psychologists, social workers, nurses, or other professionals to discuss service plans and progress. Gather and maintain patient information and records, including social and medical history obtained via self-report, relatives, and other professionals. Examine or order laboratory or diagnostic tests for patients to provide information on general physical condition and mental disorder. Advise and inform guardians, relatives, and significant others of patient’s conditions and treatment when clinically appropriate. Review and evaluate treatment procedures and outcomes of other psychiatrists and medical professionals.

Prepare and submit assessments, progress notes, reports and summaries to entities/agencies as required by organization where placed.

HOURS OF WORK PER WEEK: 40 HOURS, 5 DAYS/WEEK

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Must have Master’s degree in Nursing. Current RN License In State of TXCertification to practice as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) as A Psychiatric/Mental Health Nurse Practitioner in the State of TX is required. Also certified as Family Nurse Practioner (FNP).

Must be fully vaccinated for COVID.

No travel is required for the offered position.
