What’s the role?
Shell Renewables and Energy Solutions (Shell) is seeking to build a portfolio of commercially attractive offshore wind assets with significant scale and close links to power trading and marketing, which increasingly includes energy supply for the hydrogen value chain. The team is uniquely positioned to support Shell’s Powering Progress strategy through offering more and cleaner energy solutions to customers and energy transition target of net zero emissions by 2050.
The Offshore Power Americas team in Shell Renewables and Energy Solutions (RE&S) is responsible for regional growth and deliverability of the offshore wind portfolio in North, Central, and South America. Included as part of the portfolio are Shell joint venture partnerships – SouthCoast Wind LLC and Atlantic Shores Offshore Wind LLC. The successful scaling and continuation of development of the offshore wind business requires smart and informative shaping of regulatory frameworks across the Americas to support the safe and responsible development, construction, operation, and eventual decommissioning of Shell’s offshore wind portfolio. This role is unique opportunity to help deliver Shell joint venture project and support new business opportunities in Shell’s offshore wind portfolio. As a Shell employee supporting a joint venture, the successful candidate will report to both the Head of Regulatory Affairs, Offshore Power Americas, and the joint venture’s Development Director.
Specifically, this role is an opportunity to lead the growing environmental and permitting team and set and manage environmental and permitting strategy for the Atlantic Shores portfolio, including project development and delivery. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading all aspects of environmental and permitting services pertaining to Atlantic Shores, overseeing permitting efforts in general project development including contributing to a proactive HSSE approach to all works, recognizing and managing environmental and permitting risks over the full lifecycle of the portfolio. The successful candidate will oversee the preparation of siting studies required for permit applications and stakeholder engagement. The candidate will lead in representing Atlantic Shores with government agencies and stakeholders. As part of the Atlantic Shores Development team, the successful candidate will report to the Atlantic Shores Development Director.
About Atlantic Shores
Atlantic Shores Offshore Wind is a 50:50 partnership between Shell New Energies US LLC and EDF Renewables North America (EDFR). The joint-venture (JV) company was formed in December 2018 to co-develop a 183,353-acre lease area on the U.S. Outer Continental Shelf. The lease area (OCS-A-0499) is located within the New Jersey Wind Energy Area.

What we need from you
Physical Requirements:
Ability to travel every month to an Atlantic Shores or parent office for 3-5 days at a time.
Working Conditions:
75% of time is spent in the office environment, utilizing computers (frequent use of various Microsoft software/programs), phones, and general office equipment. Approximately 25% of the time is spent on site overseeing survey work as needed or meeting with contractors, in offsite workshops or visiting other Atlantic Shores or parent offices, or training.
