Nordstrom Credit Data Technology designs, develops, and maintains systems that support data ingestion from different sources and curate them for internal and external uses. We utilize technologies such as Kubernetes, Apache Kafka, and AWS to provide these foundations. We focus on automation and continuous integration and deployment to deliver quality results quickly.

We are seeking a Software Engineer 2, who will be part of a key team of Nordstrom Technology professionals that applies scientific, mathematical and social principles to design, build, and maintain technology products, devices, systems and solutions. These technology products and solutions provide reliable customer experience and meeting business objectives. The scope, responsibility and accountability at this level supports infrastructure and operational components, applications, services or networks with minimal supervision.

A day in the life…

• Design and collaborate with local and partner teams.
• Work independently while demonstrating a bias for action and flexibility to evolving business needs.
• Create quality, testable code and maintain a high bar for code quality, testing and automation while finding opportunities to continuously improve them.
• Test all scenarios and conform to quality and security standards
• Participate in design and code review to ensure quality and testability of feature code
• Understand, identify, measure performance and success of features
• Identify performance issues; apply knowledge of security coding practices and secure system fundamentals (e.g., cross-site scripting, security certificates)
• Contribute to documentation of technical designs of systems

You own this if you have (most of)…

• 3+ years professional experience in the software engineering industry
• 3+ years of experience with object-oriented languages preferably Java
• Recent experience with Amazon Web Services (DynamoDB, S3, EC2, Fargate, Lambda)
• Recent experience with Java, Java Spring Boot Framework, Containerization(K8s/Docker)
• Test automation experience at all levels (Unit, Integration, Regression, Load)
• Familiarity with modern infrastructure tools and pipelines (Gitlab CI/CD, Terraform)
• Familiarity with ops tools, logging, and metrics (New Relic, Splunk, CloudWatch)
• Experience with data ingestion and curation from wide variety of sources is a plus
• Experience with messaging technologies and patterns (Kafka/SQS) is a plus
• Experience with event sourcing patterns is a plus
• Experience supporting a 99% uptime application
• A passion for innovation, clean code, and learning new technologies
• Prior experience with credit or payments are a big plus
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in CS, Engineering or equivalent experience

California, New York, Washington: $99,000-$172,500 annually, Rhode Island, Colorado, Nevada: $99,000-$153,500 annually
