We are seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our team in an exciting new position as a Training and Development Coordinator.

About VCA Becker Animal Hospital and Pet Resort:

We are a fast-paced, 24-hour emergency, GP, urgent care, boarding and grooming facility located in the heart of San Antonio, Texas.

Training and Development Coordinator Position:
In this position you will be supporting our Veterinary Assistant outpatient staff by creating an organized and supportive environment for onboarding of new associates, training, and continued professional development for team members of all levels of experience. Duties will include, but are not limited to:

• Support new employee training during established 8-week onboarding process
• Organize, train, and provide one-on-one, hands-on training throughout all hospital departments
• Develop in-house mentors to provide additional on-the-floor support for new employees
• Initiate regular in-house CE opportunities (journal clubs, wet/dry labs) utilizing our experienced DVM, and Assistants
• Develop individualized professional growth plans based on annual reviews and employee goals
• Veterinary Assistant mentorship and support throughout externship period
• Work cohesively with the members of hospital leadership to create plans for long term technician advancement based on the needs of the hospital

The successful candidate will be a believer in the possibilities of high quality veterinary medicine and patient care—with the expertise and technical know-how to make them happen.

VETERINARY ASSISTANT SUPERVISOR QUALIFICATIONS

• 5+ years of clinical experience
• Passion for Veterinary Medicine
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Excellent client experience advocate

Schedule:
Full-time, a minimum of 5 days a week. This may include modifications of occasional workdays into the evening or overnight hours to accommodate training with all members of our 24-hour staff.
